Inquiries for the curious mind

Do I need to be in crisis to start therapy?

Not at all. Most of my clients are functioning well on the outside — they're meeting their responsibilities, showing up for others, and keeping it together. Therapy isn't only for crisis. It's for anyone who wants more room to breathe, think, and feel without judgment.

Do you take insurance?

This is a private pay practice, which means I don't bill insurance directly. This allows for more flexibility, privacy, and freedom in how we work together. I can provide a superbill if you'd like to submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

What is your approach?

My approach is relational and talk-based. I draw from psychodynamic and humanistic traditions — which really just means I believe that understanding yourself more deeply is what leads to lasting change. I don't assign homework or follow rigid protocols. We go where the conversation takes us.

How do sessions work?

Sessions are 60 minutes, held virtually via a secure video platform (unless you booked another service). Most clients meet weekly or biweekly. We'll find a rhythm that works for your life. There's no pressure to commit to a set number of sessions upfront but you do have that option if you decide you want invest in more support for a specific season. Please visit the “Services” page for more information.

Can I do sessions from anywhere?

Yes — sessions are fully virtual, which means as long as you're physically located in Florida or Nevada, we can meet. Your car, your lunch break, your home office — wherever you have a quiet moment and a decent connection works for me.

What if I don't know what to talk about?

That's completely okay — and more common than you'd think. You don't need to arrive with a topic or a problem to solve. Sometimes the most important sessions start with 'I don't really know why I'm here today.' We'll find our way.

Is this therapy or coaching?

This is therapy — which means it's provided by a licensed clinical social worker and held to the ethical and legal standards that come with that. The difference matters. Therapy allows us to go deeper, explore patterns rooted in your history, and work through things that coaching simply isn't equipped or licensed to touch. That said, the experience here won't feel stiff or overly clinical. Think of it as a real conversation with someone who also happens to have the training to help you make sense of what's underneath it all.

Is this confidential?

Yes, completely. Everything we discuss stays between us. Confidentiality is one of the foundations of this work, and because this is a private pay practice, there's no insurance company involved in your care.

Sessions are private and confidential, with standard legal and ethical exceptions related to safety and required reporting.

What if I've had a bad experience with therapy before?

You're not alone in that — and it's actually one of the reasons this practice exists. A lot of people have sat across from a therapist who felt disconnected, overly clinical, or like they were just going through the motions. If that's been your experience, I understand the hesitation to try again. This space is intentionally different. It's less about diagnoses and treatment plans and more about actually being heard. You set the pace, you drive the conversation, and if something isn't working for you, we talk about it. One bad fit doesn't mean therapy itself isn't for you — it might just mean you haven't found the right person yet.
